Christian Recorder: September 12, 1889
To Pastors and Superintendents of the First Episcopal District.
Dear Brethren: Great preparations have been made for observing, Endowment Day on the 15th inst. My colleagues have sounded the call to duty in their respective districts. It is expected that the grandest rally will be made for education ever recorded in the history of the church. I need no ask where will my district be in the coming contest. The veterans that covered themselves with glory in 1888 will not permit themselves to be outdone in ’89. A year ago I called upon you to be first in achievement and you were first. Pastors, Superintendents, hold your ground. Victory is in the air. While the race struggles for liberty in the South, strengthen your educational work in the North.
Yours for success.
